EastEnders has confirmed that Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey) will return 25 years after the character’s debut. However, fans are predicting that Anthony will rekindle a very dramatic romance, which is not good news for the Slaters.

In 2000, Anthony first appeared on the BBC One soap as Patrick Trueman’s (Rudolph Walker) son. Following his arrival, the handsome doctor wasted no time in drawing attention from the local ladies, including Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace).

Anthony and Kat fell in love, but their relationship was short-lived. Anthony also began dating her teenage daughter Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan), who also recently made a comeback.

Before long, Anthony was embroiled in a shocking love triangle with Kat and Zoe, who was raised as her sister.

Kat disapproved of Anthony’s relationship, and Zoe made a point of disowning her mother to be with the doctor. But when Zoe finds Kat and Anthony in bed together, she is forced to accept that the two are now a couple.

Anthony planned to propose to Kat, but she broke up before suffering a miscarriage. He left in 2005 and made a brief return in 2014.

With Zoe also making a comeback to Walford, will there be old sparks being reignited?

EastEnders fans are predicting that Anthony’s return is related to Zoe’s Walford comeback following her brief stint earlier this year. Is there romance on the cards for Anthony and Zoe, or even newly married Kat?

One fan took to Reddit and wrote, “I knew it!!! I knew Zoe’s return and Patrick and Yolande’s wedding might mean he’d be back soon!! I’m excited to see the Truemans get some focus.”

A second urged: “I really hope not as another cheating storyline would be ridiculous. Wouldn’t surprise me if they did a love triangle with Kat, Zoe and Antony like before I’m sure Zoe would be less than happy to see him.”

A third chimed in: “As soon as Kat and Alfie remarried my husband said to me ‘Give it 6 months and one of them will have cheated’.”

“He dated Kat and was engaged to Zoe (not at the same time)”, added another.
