EastEnders has aired a huge shock for Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James) after finding out she is pregnant at 16 years old.
During Monday’s double trip to Walford (July 21), Avani tried to confide in her dad, Ravi (Aaron Thiara), about her worries, but he was too busy dealing drugs around Walford.
Avani’s mum, Priya (Sophie Khan Levy), was also preoccupied preparing for her singles cruise, courtesy of Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe), leaving her needing support from a good mate.
Feeling troubled, Avani made up with her former friend Barney Mitchell (Lewis Bridgeman) and explained that she thinks she may be pregnant.
As fans of the BBC soap will know, Avani slept with newcomer Joel Marshall (Max Murray), who filmed the intimate moment on his phone before showing his friends.
Joel’s cruel actions sparked waves of online abuse aimed at Avani as she struggled to cope.
In forthcoming episodes, seeking her mum’s support, Avani attempts to tell Priya about her pregnancy, but she can’t find the right time.
It’s not long before she gains the listening ear of her grandma, though, when eagle-eyed Suki spots Avani browsing a family planning website.
Opening up to Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal), Avani bravely announces that she plans to have a termination.
Avani’s pregnancy news has sparked a reaction online among EastEnders fans who are predicting Barney is the real father of her baby as the pair appeared to get closer over the past few months.
Taking to X, one viewer asked: “#EastEnders Avani pregnant by Barney??”.
A second predicted: “Who’s guessing she won’t go along with it ? Whoever the daddy is better have the fastest trainers going when Ravi finds out.”
