Coronation Street‘s Gary Windass and Maria Connor risk trusting the wrong neighbour in ominous scenes tonight.
The couple decide that it’s time to give villainous Mick Michaelis a chance after he steps in to save Maria’s son Liam from bullies.
Friday’s episode sees Gary look forward to a fresh start running the builder’s yard after buying the business from Ed Bailey.
Gary promises Maria that he’ll make this new era a great success, but she’s still annoyed with him for ignoring her reservations over the idea.

At first, it seems that Maria may have better luck putting off Gary from hiring Mick. After Maria warns that Mick is bad news, Gary starts to backtrack over his previous offer to bring him on board.
Later, though, Liam is targeted by two thugs at the precinct who confront him and steal his phone.
Liam is once again left in a vulnerable situation, but Mick steps in to retrieve the phone and scare the lads off.
Gary and Maria are forced to reconsider their stance as they thank Mick for rescuing Liam. Deciding that he can’t be all bad, they agree to hire him after all.

Soon enough, though, there’s a tell-tale sign that Mick is going to bring trouble to their door…
Fans can see the drama unfold in full when the episode airs tonight on ITV1, or it’s also streaming right now on ITVX.
Corrie has some big storylines ahead for Mick over the next few weeks as the show builds up to his exit in the summer.
Cast and crew were recently pictured filming a special flashback episode which will explore the secret backstory between Mick, his wife Lou and local detective Kit Green.
