Emmerdale has confirmed that Chloe Harris won’t be returning to the show for Amy Barton’s funeral.
Chloe was given a rare mention in Wednesday’s episode, as her mum Kerry revealed that she’d already sent her apologies ahead of the sombre service.
This week, we’ll see the villagers gather to pay their last respects to Amy and Leyla Harding at separate funerals.
The popular characters both lost their lives in the recent limo crash disaster and fans can expect emotional send-offs. However, as always in Soapland, it’s not always possible to get former cast members back for big occasions.
Wednesday’s episode, which was released for early viewing on ITVX this morning, saw Kerry acknowledge Chloe during a chat with Amy’s grieving husband Matty.
Kerry said: “We’ve got a big day tomorrow. It’s going to be the hardest we’ll ever have to face and we need to do Amy proud. Wish Chloe could have come.”
Jessie Elland played the role of Chloe on Emmerdale between 2021 and 2023.

In 2022, a big storyline twist saw Chloe revealed as Kerry’s long-lost daughter and therefore Amy’s sister.
When Chloe’s exit scenes aired on Boxing Day 2023, Jessie commented: “I’ve had the best two years of my life playing Chloe and being a part of Emmerdale. Over those two years, it never got any less surreal to walk through the stage door at studios or to be stood outside The Woolpack at the village.
“I feel so privileged to have been given this opportunity and to have been trusted with such wonderful storylines. I really got to tick off the soap bingo card – giving birth, discovering new family members, a big stunt, a soapy slap, and even a classic back of the taxi exit!”
Chloe was last mentioned on screen in December, when her ex-partner Mackenzie Boyd tried to send some money to her and their young son Reuben.
Earlier this week, Emmerdale also provided reasons for why Alicia Gallagher and David Metcalfe won’t be returning for Leyla’s funeral.
