EastEnders has exposed major secrets about Phil Mitchell and Nigel Bates, in the show’s latest episode.
Phil has spent the last month in a mental health unit after attempting to take his own life, and this time was explored in a special episode last week.
As a result of his friendship with fellow patient Gaz, who didn’t have the support of family and friends, Phil decided to stop hiding from his loved ones and discharged himself to return home.

In today’s episode, Phil invited his family round to thank them for their support. But when he later lied to George and Elaine, Nigel noticed that he didn’t want to tell anyone else about his mental health struggles.
After Nigel accompanied Phil to his support group, he admitted that Linda had booked him a doctor’s appointment regarding his dementia, but he panicked and secretly cancelled it.
Meanwhile, Phil was confused when he spotted Teddy and Nicola kissing and found out that Teddy and Sharon were no longer together.

Phil, who previously admitted to Gaz that he still had feelings for Sharon, called round to see her and Albie, and asked about the end of her relationship with Teddy.
He mentioned cheating, and Sharon feared that he knew about her and Grant’s betrayal, but she was relieved when he falsely assumed that Teddy had cheated on her with Nicola.
Later, Phil noticed Nigel struggling during his shift in the café and reminded his friend that there was no shame in asking for help.

With Bernie getting frustrated with Nigel, Phil defended him and explained that he hadn’t been well. Nigel wasn’t pleased about this and blurted out another secret in response.
“I’m not well?” he remarked. “You’re the one who tried to shoot himself!”
Everyone in the café, including Bernie, George, Teddy and Mo, heard this, and Phil rushed out in embarrassment.
