Coronation Street newcomer Carl Webster shares a sad secret next week – admitting that he’s facing financial ruin.
Carl opens up to his sister-in-law Abi about how his business is on the brink of collapse, leaving him at a major crossroads in his life.
The heart-to-heart comes as Carl and Abi face some unexpected time alone after days of awkwardness between them.
“Carl meets Abi for the first time at the Freshco car park this week and there’s an unexpected spark as he tries to flirt with her,” our Corrie source explains.

“Carl has no idea who Abi is and when they later come face-to-face on the cobbles, finally discovering each other’s identities, the atmosphere between them is terrible.”
Next week, Debbie asks her family to join her at the Chariot Square Hotel to be guinea pigs for a wedding testing menu. She promises it’ll be a real treat for everyone, as no expense has been spared on the posh food.
Sadly, Kevin has to leave the afternoon gathering early when he doesn’t feel well.
Once alone, Carl confides in Abi about how his business in Germany is about to go bust.

“The business has been mismanaged due to a string of poor decisions and Carl’s in despair,” our insider adds.
“It’s a dilemma for Carl as he wants to stick around in Weatherfield and support his family while they’re going through a tough time with Kevin’s illness.
“Abi would still rather Carl left town, though, so she assures him that Kev would understand if he had to fly off again.”

Later, Kevin is disappointed to hear Carl’s worrying news and wishes there was a way he could help.
What will Carl do?
