However, Nigel, 68, said his time in Corrie may not be over as his character Lewis has a twin brother.
Speaking about coming back, he said: “Oh, never say never!” he told the Daily Star.
“As I was leaving the building, Sue [Roberts, who plays Audrey Roberts] said to me, ‘You do realise Lewis Archer has a twin brother!’ I thought that was so sweet of her.”
Lewis Archer – a conman, male escort and all around sleaze – first appeared in Coronation Street in 2009.
He initially had an on-off relationship with Audrey Roberts but broke her heart after stealing from Barlow’s Bookies and fleeing the country.
Lewis then tried to con Audrey multiple times – even by pretending that Richard Hillman was cursing her family from beyond the grave.
However, each time he won Audrey back.
Lewis was found dead in Audrey’s house on New Year’s Day 2019, clutching an engagement ring after failing to turn up for dinner at the bistro.
