The long-estranged father of Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick), his time spent away from the wider family appears to be shrouded in mystery.
Viewers got some answers with the introduction of Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian), Stevie’s younger son from another relationship.
Up until this point, Billy had been unaware that he had a half-brother.
In scenes from tonight’s (June 28) episode, which is already on BBC iPlayer, Stevie revealed to Billy and the others that Teddy had been the product of a fling.
However, the final moments of Friday’s installment reveal that there is more to the story than meets the eye.
While both strands of Mitchells are enjoying pizza and getting to know each other, Teddy approaches Stevie.
He asks his father: “Why’d you tell him Mum was just a fling?
“Look, I love you Dad, no matter what. But whatever you’re hiding, it’ll come out in the end.
“You know that, right?”
Intrigued, fans flocked to X, formerly Twitter, to share their thoughts as one wrote: “Ooo what is stevie hiding? #EastEnders.”
‘What has gone wrong-‘ rage incensed EastEnders fans as they slam BBC storyline
Another had their own theory, as they added: “I think Billy in EastEnders isn’t Stevie’s and Billy’s mum had a fling but Stevie doesn’t know how to tell Billy hence why he disowned him.
“Also I think Stevie had a secret fling with Phil Mitchell mum and he turns out to be Stevie’s. #EastEnders”.
In previous scenes, Teddy tracked Stevie, who had been “missing,” to Walford General Hospital, where he found his father talking to teenager Will Mitchell (Freddie Phillips).
Although Stevie acted like he didn’t know his own grandson, Teddy’s curiosity was piqued and he made his way to Albert Square.
Later, Teddy approached Will and brought him to the Queen Vic to ask questions about his family.
THE beloved British soap has been captivating audiences for decades.
However, pub landlady Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) raised the alarm with Billy that his son was with a stranger – which was followed by the explosive reveal of Teddy’s identity.
With Teddy’s – and his sons Harry (Elijah Holloway) and Barney (Lewis Bridgeman) existence now out in the open, it remains to be seen where the story will go from here.
