Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) is set to make a confession to Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) in
upcoming EastEnders scenes, unaware that there is something more sinister at play.
When Sharon asked Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) to help her get back on top of her accounts, she
didn’t expect him to steal from her.
Unfortunately, that is exactly what he’s done – and she has no idea.
In upcoming scenes, he is set to take things even further when he informs her that she has an outstanding VAT receipt, but when she grows emotional about Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters), he begins to have second thoughts.
‘Sharon explains how much she values Reiss’ support and notes how highly Keanu regarded him, and how his faith in Reiss secured him the job,’ actor Jonny Freeman explained.
‘Reiss instantly regrets his actions and backtracks by vowing to help Sharon find a loophole to avoid the debt, but Reiss is out of options, and soon realises that he has no other option but to continue to scam her.’
With no other choice, Reiss informs Sharon that there was nothing he could do about the bill and she must pay up by the following day.
The next day, Reiss asks Sharon about the money, only to be overheard by a bemused Phil.
Later, Sharon agrees to hand over the money to a delighted Reiss, but their exchange is soon interrupted by Phil, who demands to know exactly what is going on.
Sharon is quick to confess that she had taken her eye off the accounts recently, and Reiss uses her explanation to make a quick escape.
Reiss is sure he’s in the clear as he lies to Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) about his solution to their debts, but things take a downward turn when Sharon arrives and asks for the missing VAT receipt.
Has Phil worked out what Reiss is up to and had a word in her ear, or will Reiss find a way to get away with his crime?
