Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) and the phrase ‘unlucky in love’ go hand in hand in Coronation Street.
Shortly after Gareth took over the role and joined the ITV soap, Todd was in the middle of a storyline that saw him steal Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank)
from Paul Foreman (Peter Ash).
The plot concluded when Todd’s plan was exposed in front of Billy and a number of horrified Weatherfield residents.
Since then, the character has been seen on the cobbles, but hasn’t taken centre stage in a plot.
He’s largely been on screen as George’s (Tony Maudsley) right hand man at the funeral parlour, annoying mum Eileen (Sue Cleaver) and last year, supported Billy as Paul was diagnosed with motor neurone disease.
Thankfully, the lack of Todd storylines is set to change this year, as producer Kate Brooks revealed.
‘There might be a new man for Todd coming’, she said.
‘He’s been single for donkey’s years, and he’s fantastic. The Grimshaws are another big clan I am eager to explore.
‘So, there might be a new man coming for Todd, which will come with its own tests and trials.’
