The new owner of Coronation Street’s iconic Rovers Return has been ‘revealed’ as a returning soap legend.
The famous pub, one of the most recognisable in all of soapland, boasts a rich history spanning the soap’s 65-year run on television.
Over the decades, viewers have seen a variety of characters take charge behind the legendary bar, from stalwarts like Bet Lynch (Julie Goodyear) and Liz McDonald (Beverly Callard), to newcomers such as Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) and Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan), who recently exited the show.
At present, Carla Connor (Alison King) owns the pub, having acquired it after former landlady Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) and Daisy purchased it using money pilfered from Carla’s factory.
However, Jenny was recently ousted from her position behind the bar, prompting Carla to bring in Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) as interim manager until she can find suitable replacements to run the street’s renowned establishment, reports the Daily Star.
Now, it’s been suggested that former resident Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) is set to return to take over the Rovers Return. Speculation about Eva’s comeback first surfaced earlier this year, and a recent source has ‘confirmed’ this potential new storyline.
An insider revealed to The Sun: “It’s one of the biggest jobs in soap, the landlady of the Rovers Return pub. Bosses were desperate to get Cath back, they came up with the perfect storyline with her being unveiled as the new landlady of the Rovers.”

Eva first graced the cobbles of Coronation Street in 2011, quickly becoming a fan favourite as Leanne Battersby’s (Jane Danson) sister and Stella’s (Michelle Collins) daughter.
Her time on the show saw her involved in numerous major plots and memorable moments, from her days working at the Rovers to her tumultuous romance with Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward), which ended in despair after his affair with Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon).
