Barbara Knox Stuns Fans with Surprise Performance at Manchester Pride

Barbara Knox (Rita Tanner) had an amazing weekend at Manchester Pride. The 90-year-old appeared on The Alan Turing Stage with drag artist Belinda Scandal and sang Vera Lynn’s ‘We’ll Meet Again’ together. The actress looked stunning in black, shining with her sparkling black and gold sequin jacket.

Beside her, Belinda held her hand, looking fabulous in a pink blazer. When the song ended, the Corrie star had a special solo moment in the spotlight, filled with emotion from the ‘unforgettable’ experience. She shared an emotional message with the audience, revealing that she was often promised roles early in her acting career but was only given ‘one episode.’ The soap star shared her experience of first appearing on the ITV soap, saying she thought she had secured her big break but didn’t hear from them for ten years.

However, she returned a decade later. She described the journey as ‘wonderful,’ crediting it to the people involved. She praised them as the backbone of the show’s achievements. She mentioned that although she had never visited before, she would like to return because of the warmth and welcome she received.

The ITV actress acknowledged, “You know, it isn’t always like this. I’ve never been booed, but I’ve lost my job, but whatever!” She was also amazed by what they had created, referring to it as their own ‘little paradise.’ She also commended their charitable efforts and highlighted how impressive it was that every penny raised went to charities in this day and age.
