2025 is set to start with a bang in Coronation Street, as our New Year picture gallery reveals.
The celebrations take a back seat to fights, sinister plots and health scares next week, with drama and chaos following our favourite characters wherever they
go.
The week gets off to a tense start as David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) and Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) come to blows, but fortunately Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) is on hand to talk some sense into the warring men.
Meanwhile, Cassie Plummer’s (Claire Sweeney) sinister plot against Ken Barlow (William Roache) steps up a gear, as she breaks down and tells him that she has wracked up some huge debts buying Christmas presents for the family.
With Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) keen to move out, is he leaving Ken in serious danger?
Elsewhere, Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) and Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) are still reeling from the dramatic events of Christmas, but somehow Toyah finds it in her heart to have sympathy for her sister.
When she begs Nick to drop the charges against Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson), will he agree?
It’s a busy week for loved-up Carla Connor (Alison King) and DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers), whose lunch date is interrupted by an emergency call to an incident.
The violent incident sees Lisa badly injured, but she assures Carla that she’s fine and they head off to bring in the New Year at the Rovers, where Carla drops the L-bomb – but how will the detective sergeant react?
It turns out that it isn’t Lisa’s injuries we need to worry about, but actually Carla when she ends up hospitalised for sepsis, with doctors fearing she may need another kidney transplant.
When Lisa takes time out from pursuing Matty Radcliffe (Seamus McGoff) over Becky’s death, she is hurt to learn that Carla lied about her whereabouts, and makes it clear that she won’t put up with dishonesty.
Will Carla come clean about the severity of her condition?
Elsewhere, things seem brighter for Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) and Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) as they enjoy a romantic meal, but will their relationship be affected when Lisa later confronts Mason about his brothers’ role in Becky’s death?
Meanwhile, Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) is intrigued when she spots Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) having an intense conversation with Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard).
When Daisy walks away in tears, Sarah follows her, but will Daisy come clean about what is bothering her?
And finally, Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) finds herself in the midst of an existential crisis over New Year – we’ve all been there – and questions whether her life has purpose.
Roy Cropper (David Neilson) makes the suggestion that she should look into studying law at university, and soon Evelyn is waiting anxiously for her interview.
However, when she spots a familiar face, are her chances ruined?
