Former Coronation Street star Lucy-Jo Hudson has received support after she revealed that her son fell
ill after a day out to celebrate Father’s Day.
The actress, who played Katy Harris in the ITV soap, took to social media to share a life update with fans
, explaining that, after a weekend of fun and games, the subsequent 24 hours gave her a ‘reality check’ when son Carter fell sick.
‘Out celebrating Father’s Day, going to the theatre Saturday night and then the last 24 hours have been a reality check,’ she wrote on Instagram, sharing a series of snaps.
‘Swipe to see the past 24 hours. Bless carter out of nowhere he just started throwing up at 3am this morning and on and off until 7am god love him and now my whole week has been thrown out of the window.
‘When things like this happen you can’t ever plan it, or schedule it into your routine and as a working mum with a million jobs to do, and lists to tick off, this has just thrown a spanner in the works and of course my priority is to make sure Carter’s ok and that I’m here for him and to help him get better…. but it just adds to that constant mental load.’
‘This is something parents don’t speak about enough, it can be so unpredictable and even though my week was planned out I now have to change it to fit around my poorly boy. How do you working mums figure out rejigging your week when something like this happens?
‘We’re in this together mammas.’
Lucy, who recently played Donna-Marie in Hollyoaks, was inundated with support following the post, with one user writing: ‘Oh no, hope he’s getting better soon. I’ve been through similar with little man last week nad he’s now having tests. Can totally relate.’
Another added: ‘It really isn’t talked about enough! The guilt too – I hate letting people down but my kids are and will always be my priority.’
Lucy-Jo left Hollyoaks last year, with Donna-Marie Quinn departing after a long stint as a main character, coupled with several recurring stints following her debut in 2018.
Discussing whether or not we’ll see her back, she told Metro.co.uk: ‘Never say never!’
‘I mean I’ve absolutely loved Donna-Marie and, in a show where everybody’s so glam, I’ve loved playing the downtrodden character with the yellow teeth, pale face, dark eyes, greasy hair – I’ve loved that look.’
