EastEnders has teased a new suspect in Cindy Beale’s Christmas Day attack, in the show’s latest episode.
This week, Cindy gave a statement to the police after waking up from her coma and said that she remembers seeing Lauren running away while she was lying in the snow.
Lauren was arrested as a result and questioned at the station, but she remained firm that she didn’t know anything and was released pending further investigation.
But back at home, she revealed to Peter that she did find Cindy in the Square and fled the scene after turning her over. As she had taken some pills, her memories were hazy and she was scared that she may be responsible for Cindy’s attack.
In today’s episode, things were still tense between Lauren and Peter, and she feared that her partner believed she attacked his mum.
When Peter updated Cindy about Lauren’s case, the doctor delivered the good news that she will be discharged tomorrow. Peter supported his mum and vowed to find her a place to stay.
Peter refused to allow Cindy to stay with him on her return to Walford, so he managed to persuade a struggling Reiss to let her have his spare room for a few days.
Meanwhile, Lauren attended a support meeting and asked another group member about blackouts and flashbacks. She became overwhelmed and walked out and later had a vision of her hands covered in blood.
Lauren went to Harry’s Barn and asked Ravi about getting her some morphine, but a furious Peter overheard the conversation.
At the flat, Lauren told Peter about her vision, and that she remembered wiping the blood on a scarf or finding a scarf that already had blood on it – the scarf that Louie got them both for Christmas.
Lauren thought it best to go to the police and confess, but Peter was adamant that she didn’t attack Cindy.
Later, Peter was seen secretly burning the scarf outside. Is he trying to protect Lauren, or does he have something else to hide?
