SHOCKING NEWS!! EastEnders star Louisa Lytton teases romance for Ruby ahead of return

EastEnders‘ returning star Louisa Lytton has said a romance may be on the cards for her character Ruby

Allen.

Ruby is set to make a dramatic comeback to Walford next week. She reappears on the Square after a few

years in prison for growing cannabis and is set to reconnect with her ex-husband Martin Fowler, with

whom she has a son.

Speaking and other press ahead of their explosive reunion, Lytton shared her hopes to rekindle Ruby’s romance with Martin, played by James Bye.

“When me and James Bye first started the Ruby and Martin relationship, we had all of two days on set and then we went into lockdown,” she explained.

“When we came back to continue the storyline, everything was behind a screen, we weren’t allowed to touch and so we felt, as actors, we didn’t get the shot that we wanted to give the relationship on screen and the chemistry. So I’m hoping for that reason, we might get to see them rekindle something.”

However, it seems Martin isn’t the only contender for a possible relationship as Ruby has plenty of other options.

“I think Ruby loves the idea of a family more than she loves Martin. She loves the idea of him as a family man, but I think there is plenty of opportunity for her to have other relationships on the Square, there’s quite a few new characters,” Lytton said.

“There’s obviously people like Zack, who she had a flirt with years ago. He’s single!” she added. “She had a relationship with Jay in the past, there’s the new Mitchells. So let’s see.”

Ruby will also come face to face with her former best friend Stacey Slater, played by Lacey Turner.

The two former pals had a falling out after Ruby got romantically involved with Martin, who was previously married to Stacey, and the friendship went south from there when Ruby falsely accused Stacey of assault, leaving her behind bars.

“It’s so heartbreaking because I feel like so much has happened, and I don’t know how they could ever come back from that,” acknowledged Lytton.

“The sad thing is, in another world they would have been like sisters, they were meant to be the best of friends. I’m not sure, but I think it’s really sad, but also lovely for us to play this love-hate relationship, every scene is like a struggle. Ruby would love them to be friends, and Stacey just hates that. Ruby sort of ruined it!”
