EastEnders star James Farrar has revealed that fans can expect “unbelievable” scenes from the soap over the festive period and into the New

Year, saying that “a big, big month” is coming up.

The actor, who has played Zack Hudson since 2021, told The Mirror at the 2024 Inside Soap Awards that there are some shocking episodes on

the way, with the star reportedly gasping as he remembered what is coming up.

“What’s exciting is I look forward to Christmas Day regardless of being on the show or not,” he said. “We get two Christmas Days. Oh! And New Year. New Year! I’m not saying anything. I will not say.

“I know who is involved. It is unbelievable, as in unbelievable! We’ve got Christmas, New Year and the 40th. It’s a big, big month for our show and I am so proud of us, and proud of Chris [Clenshaw, EastEnders‘ executive producer] for everything he’s done. He’s left us in a very good state.”

Farrar added that there is “something really exciting coming up next year” for Zack “that nobody really knows about yet”.

“It keeps me going into work every day,” he said. “I’m buzzing for it to start.”

EastEnders has already confirmed that it will celebrate its 40th anniversary in February 2025 with a special live episode, which will also feature a unique interactive element.

Viewers will have the chance to choose the outcome of a currently unidentified love story, with the fan-chosen ending being played out during the live episode.

The soap has already been gearing up for its big festive period and anniversary with major character returns, including David Wicks, Chrissie Watts and Jake Moon, with Ruby Allen also due to make a comeback.
