EastEnders has given fans a first look at Sonia Fowler’s upcoming trial for the murder of Debbie Colwell, which is due to begin very soon.
The nurse will return in new scenes airing later this month, having been largely absent from the show recently amid her imprisonment. In August, Sonia was wrongly charged with the murder of her fiancé Reiss Colwell’s wife Debbie and she is now about to stand trial.
In new spoiler pictures, a worried and heavily pregnant Sonia receives a visit from Reiss in prison, and he is looking rather guilty due to the fact that he is Debbie’s real killer.
This isn’t the only secret that Reiss has been keeping from his fiancée lately, as he is also holding Sonia’s sister Bianca Jackson hostage after kidnapping her.
Further new images show Sonia looking concerned while sitting in court, as she anxiously awaits her fate ahead of her baby’s birth.
Will Sonia find out the truth about Debbie’s death, and can Reiss really let his fiancée go down for a crime she didn’t commit?
In scenes that will air on the soap this week, Reiss will gather the Albert Square residents in The Queen Vic to reveal his new plan for Sonia’s trial. But it will soon become clear that not everyone is willing to get on board.
After Sonia makes her return, she is due to have an “emotional conversation” with Reiss, before Reiss makes yet another “reckless decision” and then “gets more than he bargained for”.
Is Reiss finally about to have his killer secret exposed after months of lies?
The soap is currently gearing up for its big 40th anniversary in February, with the show having just confirmed that Ross Kemp will be making a return as Grant Mitchell in order to celebrate the milestone.
