EastEnders’ Lauren Branning has revealed a major secret about Cindy Beale’s attack, in the show’s latest episode.
Cindy recently woke up from her coma after being attacked on Christmas Day, and in yesterday’s episode she was questioned by DCI Arthurs about what she remembers.
After Cindy gave a statement, the police arrived at The Vic and arrested Lauren for her attempted murder.
In today’s episode, Lauren was questioned at the police station, where she was told that Cindy remembers seeing her running away when she opened her eyes while lying in the snow.
DCI Arthurs grilled her about her relationship with Cindy and used a firm line of questioning, bringing up Lucy and even used her addiction to try and get to the truth.
Meanwhile, Peter went to the hospital to confront her mum about what she said to the police that led to Lauren’s arrest.
He urged Cindy to change her statement, but she protested that Lauren is hiding something, as she recognised her at the scene of the crime.
Lauren remained firm that she didn’t know anything, so she was released on bail pending further investigation, but DCI Arthurs made it clear that it wasn’t over for her.
She returned home where she told Penny and Kathy what had happened, before Peter arrived and comforted her.
But when they were alone, Lauren confessed that Cindy wasn’t lying, and she did in fact see her in the snow on the night of the attack.
She explained that she found Cindy and turned her over, then ran away from the scene. Her memories of the night were hazy because she had taken the pills that Cindy had tried to give her, and she blacked out.
For this reason, Lauren isn’t completely sure what happened that night, and she told a shocked Peter that she fears she might be responsible for Cindy’s attack but doesn’t remember.
Is Lauren really the culprit and what will Peter do with this new information?
