EastEnders’ Jean Slater revealed her big secret after she called social services to stop Tommy Moon’s violent outbursts.
The soap is currently running a child-to-parent abuse storyline involving Tommy and his mother Kat Slater, with tensions
coming to a head after Alfie discovered that his step-son had injured his wife.
Matters got worse just when things were looking on the up, with Tommy injuring Freddie after a misunderstanding during a family dinner before trashing the house as he failed to control his anger.
Despite Kat’s insistence on giving Tommy a chance, Jean secretly made the decision to call social services, with Monday’s (October 28) episode beginning as Jean felt the weight of her decision while in the café.
As she headed out, she received a stern word from Kat, who was still under the impression that Alfie made the call. Jean returned home to express her concerns that she had let Kat down, though Stacey implored her to make peace with her decision.
After completing a cleaning shift at The Vic, Jean became tetchy after Elaine probed about the situation. Her mood worsened after Kojo brought her flowers, with Jean upsetting him as she rejected them.
Upon leaving, she received another earful from Kat and Bianca, with the latter accusing her of “grassing” on her own family. A demoralised Jean was consoled by Alfie, who assures her that she did nothing wrong.
Jean met with a tearful Kat in the café, who shared her concerns that Tommy will never forgive her. Jean attempted to make amends with Kojo, while Alfie pleaded with Kat to let him see Tommy.
Jean patched things up with Kojo as they shared a meal at The Vic, and Kojo praised his peer for her honesty and compassionate nature. Their ‘date’ was cut short, however, when Zak told Kat and Alfie that Tommy wasn’t ready to see them yet.
After Kat lashed out at Alfie, Jean eventually revealed the truth that she was the one who called social services. Given how Kat had previously acted, will this cause an irreparable tear between the pair?…
