EastEnders has aired more upsetting scenes for Jean Slater tonight (December 4), as her scam storyline continued.
Jean was in a chipper mood at the beginning of the latest instalment. She told Stacey she’d been on the phone to a new
solicitor who was confident that her firm could get all of the lost money back.
When Stacey pressed for information on how they would do that, Jean just said she give them some details about the case.
Concerned, Stacey went to the café and asked Jack Branning if he could check the police number the supposed solicitor had sent Jean was legit or not. He instantly told her the number wasn’t a police number at all.
Stacey brought Jack round to the house where they asked Jean if she’d given them passwords to her accounts. She confirmed she had, after being told she needed to in order to pay the ‘solicitor fee’.
“Sounds like you’ve been targeted again. This Grace probably works with the same people that took your pension in the first place,” Jack said, warning her that the scammers might be able to take out loans and credit cards in her name.
“If it’s any help, it’s happening all the time at the minute,” he added.
“To stupid people,” she replied. “To stupid people like me, you mean. People who are far too trusting and still think people are decent and honest.”
At the episode’s end, Jean’s other half Harvey Monroe came home to hear her sobbing in the kitchen. Unable to hide what had happened, she confessed to him she’d lost even more of her money.
