Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) received a huge blow on Thursday’s EastEnders when she was told she’d be without a livelihood in a month’s time.
As fans of the BBC soap know, the Walford market has been under threat after plans to redevelop it were revealed last year.
The traders have banded together to launch a campaign to try and save the market and were given a big update about its future in the latest episode of the BBC soap.
Market boss Mr Lister dropped in at The Vic to reveal that the stalls on Bridge Street had been saved from closure.
Sadly, however, the same could not be said for the stalls on Turpin Road, which he revealed will be closing.
Stacey, who runs a bap van with her best friend Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) on Turpin Road, was stunned at the development.
But when Mr Lister confirmed there was only a month left before she had to cease trading, an already financially stretched Stacey was left further worried about her family’s future.
Her ex-husband Martin Fowler (James Bye), whose fruit and veg stall was saved, insisted the fight was still not over, and next week, we will see his girlfriend Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton) step in to bat for the Turpin Road traders.
The soap has cast former The Bill actor Iain Fletcher as Councillor Barker, as Ruby puts a risky plan in motion in forthcoming scenes.
Will Stacey’s old rival be the one who saves her livelihood?
