George and Junior Knight will face suspicion on EastEnders following the attack on Cindy Beale.
The explosive Christmas Day (December 25) episode saw the schemer’s various lies come out, with her feelings for her ex-husband George and affair with his son Junior being revealed at The Vic.
Following a heated fallout, Cindy was attacked by an unknown assailant with a snow shovel on her way back home, with several individuals falling under suspicion as they each had a motive for a crime.
George had already raised an eyebrow as he was seen with blood on his shirt following the attack, with the character also asking Kojo to provide him with an alibi if it was needed. In Monday’s (January 6) episode, it was his son who came into the firing line.
Elaine called a meeting at The Vic as she demanded that everybody put their “cards on the table” in regards to the attack, imploring the guilty to come forward and confess to the crime.
A snarky Junior ridiculed her “detective work”, with Elaine asking why he was still in Walford if he thought so little of the incident. Before he could answer, Kojo dropped him in the thick of it, sharing that Junior was worried what the police would think of him if he departed.
After the group questioned Junior – with Elaine referencing the fact he was seen fleeing from the scene – Peter began sharing some harsh words, slyly calling him “the ex” as he remarked that Cindy was merely using him as a “stand-in.”
Believing that he and Cindy shared a more precious bond, Junior made a confession that shocked the room, confirming that the pair had been together on the night of the crush at Peggy’s, in which Lauren was injured.
A fight subsequently broke out between Peter and Junior before George intervened, with the character lambasting his son for his “sick” and “distasteful” relationship with his ex-wife. After a frank discussion, George urged his son to prove his innocence rather than dig a deeper hole.
It seems he wasn’t being wholly truthful, however, as Junior apologised to a sleeping Cindy while she was recovering in hospital. As he departed, he spotted his father paying a visit – are the pair hiding something?
