EastEnders has aired a massive change in the storyline regarding Cindy Beale as she awoke from her coma.
The schemer’s world unravelled on Christmas Day as her various truths – ranging from her feelings for ex-husband George Knight as well as her affair with his son, Junior – came to light.
Following the dramatic scene, which also included details regarding her blackmail of Lauren Branning, Cindy was hospitalised after being attacked by an unknown assailant with a snow shovel.
Whilst a comatose Cindy recovered in hospital, the residents of Walford have attempted to piece together who was responsible for the attack, with Thursday’s (January 9) episode beginning as Peter confronted Gina and Anna.
The pair had attempted to stash the bloodied shirt that was worn by their father on the night of the attack, though he had explained he was involved in a bare-knuckle fight. Peter, who had been following the sisters, demanded an answer.
After Peter shared his suspicions regarding George, Gina and Anna remarked that his father, Ian, had the strongest motive for the attack as his world had “come crashing down”, though Peter dismissed such a suggestion.
Peter learned during the conversation that Ian may have lied about visiting Cindy in the hospital, with his suspicions being proved correct. Peter reasoned that such a fact made Ian look guilty, though he responded by saying he no longer cared.
“Your mum stripped me of any dignity I had that night – there’s nothing left for me to care about,” he remarked, though Peter shared his belief that Ian still loved Cindy despite all the pain that she had caused him.
Ian subsequently received a call from the hospital where he was informed that Cindy had been woken up, though he could soon be in the thick of the drama as her first word upon her awakening was “Ian”…
