Coronation Street legend Jack P. Shepherd has revealed that David Platt ends up in a ‘bad way’ after an altercation with Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) in upcoming scenes.

The cobbles stalwart has had a rough time of late, from his mum Gail’s (Helen Worth) move to France, and losing his family home in a horrific blaze.

The fire was, as we know, started by step-son Max Turner (Paddy Bever) in a bid to use the insurance money to pay off gangster Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) – who David stole from last year.

Realising that he had nowhere left to turn, we recently saw him plan his own death when he stepped out in front of a moving vehicle.

Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) was accidentally caught up in the collision – subsequently losing her unborn baby – and the situation was further escalated when David’s wife Shona (Julia Goulding) blackmailed her into coughing up £40k.

Recalling the time Daisy accidentally hit her with a car, Daisy knew she had nowhere left to turn and would be forced to pay up or face the consequences.

In this week’s episodes, we’ll see Kit try and dish more dirt on the situation – and he’s not a happy man when he finds out what David has done, causing the death of his child.

‘He thinks he’s going to get arrested’ Jack told us.

‘It could be a lot of things he could be getting arrested for. So, Kit’s there, and he’s like, “Look, I am sorry. If I could switch places, I would”

‘Kit’s almost a little bit p***ed off with this. I think he wanted David to beg, like “Please no, please no.”‘

He continued: ‘David’s almost accepting that he will go to prison for this. When Kit drives off, he’s like, “What are we doing? Where are we going?”

‘And then when he turns up to this warehouse, and he starts beating him up, punching him and everything. And, yeah, David’s… he’s in a bit of a bad way, actually.’

Despite everything, Jack thinks that there could be a redemption arc for his character.

‘That’s the beauty of soap. Yeah, I think in a weird way, it’ll only kind of make [him and Shona] stronger – that she will recognise, yeah, he’s been stupid, obviously, he’s doing a stupid thing – but he was only doing it out of love.’

‘He wasn’t doing it out of being malicious or anything like that. It’s only because he loved them so much that he wanted them to be able to move on and have a happy life.

‘And the only way he could see them doing that is if Harvey was paid off, and the only way was if they could cash in on the insurance money.’
