Coronation Street actor Vicky Myers has spoken about her real-life friendship with a fellow soap star, Emmerdale‘s Lisa Riley.
Myers plays DS Lisa Swain on Corrie, having become a regular character (and one of the current most important characters) after initially making a few brief appearances in various storylines.
Before her casting on Coronation Street, she appeared in a BBC One drama called Age Before Beauty in 2018. Set in a beauty salon in Manchester, Myers and Riley played sisters trying to keep their business afloat.
Speaking to OK, Myers stated that her co-star was like a sister to her off-screen as well.
“She was fantastic with me,” Myers said. “She taught me little tricks of the trade and all with the big welcoming arms and cuddles that she’s brilliant at.
“She’s a massive support and I’m privileged to be in her life.”
Riley recently shared praise for Myers’ impact on Coronation Street, writing on social media: “So unbelievably proud of my work pretend TV baby sister… knocking it out of the park, playing the role of Lisa so brilliantly in Coronation Street.

“I have always said, and mean it from the bottom of my heart, beautiful things happen to beautiful people… and one thing is for sure Vicky is [an] absolute beauty.
“I am your proudest big sister….keep being you babes.”
Before landing the role of DS Swain, Myers actually appeared in Corrie a few times as an extra between 1997 and 2010.
She had to put her acting career on hold due to a cancer diagnosis, but returned to the profession in 2015 and is now a big part of the soap.
Looking ahead, she said: “My only plan for the New Year is work. I’m incredibly happy and I’d like it to stay that way. It hasn’t been easy, but that was my path and I think that’s what makes me appreciate it all the more.
“Take those experiences and learn what you can – take the positives from it, not just the negative.
“The cancer diagnosis was horrible, but it’s important not to trip over something you’ve left behind. Just keep going, keep moving forward.”
