Coronation Street‘s Amy Barlow will become further embroiled in the Institute cult in worrying scenes
next week.
This week’s episodes see student Amy start to show an interest in the Institute, after member Leanne
Battersby shows her one of the cult’s videos in an attempt to help her with managing her exam stress.
Despite a worried Toyah Battersby trying to warn Amy off the Institute after all the misery they’ve caused Toyah, it seems that Amy’s interest is only going to grow over the coming weeks.

In scenes that will air next week, Leanne tells Nick Tilsley that she’s going to spend some quality time with her sister, following the shocking medical news that Toyah has received after being rushed to hospital with terrible stomach pains.
But Leanne’s plans are disrupted when manipulative cult leader Rowan Cunliffe calls her and asks her to come along to the Institute’s taster session for new members. Toyah offers to go along too, wanting to stay close to both Leanne and Amy.
When the pair arrive at the Chariot Square Hotel, Leanne is pleased when she sees Amy among the crowd of potential new recruits.

Could Amy soon be just as embroiled in the Institute as Leanne – and will Toyah be able to do anything about it after all she’s been through?
Jane Danson recently spoke about the difficulties of acting out her character’s cult storyline, particularly as “Leanne is now speaking completely different to how she normally would”.
“But what is interesting for me as an actor is exploring her from a completely different way of thinking and also it’s fun because Leanne is absolutely oblivious to all of the damage she is causing by some of her behaviours,” she explained.
One major consequence of Leanne’s involvement in the Institute has been Toyah and Nick growing closer, resulting in them sharing a passionate encounter a few weeks ago.
