Coronation Street star Ruxandra Porojnicu has revealed whether her character Alina Pop still has
romantic feelings for her ex-partner Tyrone Dobbs.
Alina makes a return to Weatherfield next week, which is sure to shake up life for Tyrone and his wife Fiz
once again.
Earlier this week, Fiz discovered that Alina was likely to be called as a witness in an upcoming court trial involving a human trafficking gang.
Next week, it’s clear that Alina has indeed made a return to participate in the trial, as Fiz bumps into her in the Freshco’s car park.

Speaking about Alina’s return, Ruxandra explained: “Alina is back in Weatherfield because she’s a witness in a trial against traffickers. She feels like she should avoid Tyrone and Fiz.
“If it was by choice, she would have avoided seeing Fiz at all costs. It happens and she just wants to get away from it as soon as possible.
“I think she is curious to see Tyrone and to speak with him again, because obviously she had feelings for him and he was a very important person in her life at some point. But I would say if it hadn’t been for the court trial, she would not have chosen to come back.”

Asked whether Alina still carries feelings for Tyrone, Ruxandra replied: “I think because she saw herself building a life with him and because they went through a lot of trauma, which bonded them together, I think she still has feelings for him but different types of feelings.
“I think he will always mean something to her but just on a different level.
“Alina has definitely changed, because time heals. I’m going to leave it at that. Time heals and you learn from your experiences and that makes you grow as a person.”
Spoilers for next week have revealed that Tyrone’s mum Cassie Plummer meddles in the situation, posing as a taxi driver to bring Alina back to the cobbles against her will.

Viewers will have to tune in to see how Tyrone reacts to seeing his ex back in town for the first time since 2021.
Discussing how it felt to return, Ruxandra added: “Time flew by so fast. I enjoy being an actress and I’ve tried to keep work rolling. I’m grateful that it happened.
“I’ve done some theatre, I’ve had my London stage debut, which was challenging but a beautiful experience. I’ve worked on some series, a feature film, just to keep things rolling.
“But I’ve also been trying to make time for my family. My family is back in Romania, so I need to make time for them and spend some quality time because time goes by so quickly.
“When I got a call to come back to Coronation Street, I was very happy because working with everyone, the cast and crew, they’re all very, very nice people. Everyone was super welcoming and I’m very happy to be back.”
Coronation Street airs Alina’s return scenes on Wednesday, August 7.
