Coronation Street‘s dodgy detective Kit Green has embarked on a risky new cover-up tonight (December 11).
The latest instalment began with Kit going into the Rovers after closing time to confront Daisy Midgeley over the CCTV driving in Debbie Webster’s stolen car. She says she only did it to get
back at Debbie.
The next day, fellow policeman Craig Tinker spoke about wanting to look into the CCTV, but Kit told her that there was no footage and tried to get him to drop it.
“[Debbie] might want to know that we’ve got more important things to do,” he said, “as far as I’m concerned, the case is closed.”
Kit later came across an upset Debbie in the street and told her there was no update on the car, but mid-conversation, he got a phone call from Craig, who told him that they had found her car three or four miles away.
“Can I come with you, to pick it up?” Debbie asked, only for Kit to reply: “You’ll have a hard time starting it; it’s been torched.”
He then saw Shona Platt at the station giving a statement about getting hit by a runaway car that matched Debbie’s car’s description. To his annoyance, Craig approached him and told him that, with this new information, “finding out what happened just became my number one priority”.
Kit then confronted Daisy again and had a go at her for torching the car and leaving the scene of an accident, making the case more important than it would have been otherwise, and revealed the risky move he made.
“Luckily for you, not me, I’ve already deleted the CCTV when Shona pitched up at the station,” he admitted, before accusing Daisy of knowing he’d go and do that. She didn’t disagree.
At the end of the episode, Kit found Craig on the phone to the hardware shop enquiring about the CCTV again. He angrily hung up the call and told Craig to be a good boy, drop the case, and listen to him from now on.
Will Craig realise why Kit is behaving so suspiciously and investigate further?
