Coronation Street‘s Joseph Brown will make a shocking admission in upcoming scenes after he’s overcome with guilt.
The ITV soap recently announced plans to explore knife crime in a dark new storyline for Mason Radcliffe, who will be stabbed during an altercation with his brothers Matty and
Logan in early January.
While Mason fights for his life in hospital, paramedic Asha tells Dev that a hoax call sent the ambulance on a wild goose chase and delayed them getting to Mason.
After overhearing the conversation, a guilty Joseph walks into the police station and tells Kit that he made the call.
When Craig tells Chesney and Gemma about the call, they’re horrified.
The pair later confront Joseph, who admits the call was actually Hope’s idea. How will Chesney react?
Later in the week, Gemma reveals that Joseph will be let off with a youth caution for the hoax call. Fiz is sympathetic, aware that the prank was Hope’s idea.
Speaking about the dark storyline, Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks told Digital Spy and other press: “We start the year with a big knife crime story. It’s a really important story to tackle, because the statistics are so alarming.
“We’ve worked really closely with the Ben Kinsella Foundation to make sure we’re telling the story right and that the message is to not carry a knife out of fear, because that escalates everything. We know we’re tackling a sensitive storyline and it’s going to be very hard-hitting.
“We have Mason at the centre of it and Dylan and Betsy are involved. It has massive ramifications for Abi – and for Tim and Sally going forward.”
