SHOCKING NEWS!!! Coronation Street’s Joe Layton addresses Mick’s future after dramatic exit

Coronation Street star Joe Layton has revealed whether we could see evil killer Mick Michaelis again after his explosive exit from the cobbles.

Mick’s reign of terror finally came to an end last month as he was arrested – again – following a daring escape from jail.

Although Mick initially planned to do a runner with his family, he ultimately accepted his fate after a terrifying showdown with his daughter Joanie and concerned neighbour Sally Metcalfe on the roof of Underworld.

Some wise words from Sally helped Mick to realise that his family deserved much better than a life on the run with him. So, could Mick be a changed man if we ever saw him again in the future?

Joe has now spoken out in a revealing new interview with Soap Scoop, the new podcast from Inside Soap magazine which delivers exclusive star chats every Tuesday.

“I don’t know whether there’s a redemption arc in there for Mick. It’s funny, isn’t it? Because you and I, as regular people who walk the streets and are moral people, would say: ‘There’s no way back for this guy’.

“But then all you have to do is look back [at] the history of soaps. A few people have got away with some pretty bad stuff and come back. So, you know, never say never!

“I loved my time on Corrie and I’ve got the utmost respect for everyone involved there. So we’ll see. But I think it would be easier for some of the other Michaelises to have a redemption arc than it would Mick…”

Joe is currently preparing to tread the boards in Lost Atoms, billed as “a wild ride through a life-changing relationship”.

He’s taking on the role of Robbie in the stage production, which premieres at the Curve theatre in Leicester next month before travelling around the country.

“It’s really different to Corrie,” Joe explained. “It’s a show about a couple who come back together in this almost abstract-like memory vault to repeat their relationship after they’ve parted ways.

“It’s show about love, memory and perspective – all of the ups and downs that come through a relationship. And it asks the question: ‘How do you define a successful relationship or a successful love?’

“Societally, we’re told, especially through films and media, that a successful relationship is defined by its length. You meet, you’re faithful for your entire life, and you die. That’s the picture-perfect relationship. But obviously, as we know from life, as is often reflected in soaps, it’s never that straightforward…”
