Coronation Street‘s Gail Rodwell will consider a risky decision to help Bethany Platt after her cosmetic surgery goes wrong.

In a new issue-based storyline, Bethany has been left with some hefty medical bills in Turkey after her liposuction went awry and she contracted sepsis.

Those in Weatherfield, including Gail, will be thinking about making big sacrifices to help her.

Gail, played by Helen Worth – who’s been confirmed to leave the soap after 50 years as Gail – suggests she could sell the house. David is horrified by her plan, as he points out they’ll be homeless if she sells.

Bethany’s boyfriend Daniel Osbourne is ready to withdraw money from Bertie’s trust fund, but Ken urges him to think again.

In the Turkish hospital, Sarah meets the CEO of the cosmetic surgery company who offers to pay for her hotel stay.

When Sarah retorts that they should be paying for Bethany’s medical bills as well, the CEO shows her the consent form her daughter had signed.

Determined to spread the word about what the company is really like, Audrey suggests they could call them out online.

Gail’s idea of selling the house appears to be tied in with her exit storyline, with her final scenes due to air later this year.

Speaking about leaving the soap behind after five decades, Worth said: “I have been truly blessed to have been given the most incredible scripts week in, week out and to have worked with fantastic actors, directors and a brilliant crew.”

She added: “The past 50 years have flown by, and I don’t think the fact that I am leaving has quite sunk in yet.”

These scenes air on Wednesday, October 2, and Friday, October 4.
