Dee-Dee Bailey may have revealed who killed Joel Deering in a surprising scene on Coronation Street.
The villain mysteriously disappeared last month before his body was eventually found floating in the canal, with the police beginning to treat his death as a murder investigation.
Several residents of Weatherfield have a motive to want Joel dead, with the soap introducing flashbacks to the fateful night of his death.
One such character is Dee-Dee, who was confirmed to have seen Joel that night as she approached his car. It looked even more ominous for her in the following scenes, as she was later depicted holding a crowbar whilst washing away blood in the sink.
The storyline is continued in next week’s (November 8) scenes, with there being a surprising turn of events after Dee-Dee tearfully confesses to her father, Ed, that she was the one who killed Joel.
She explains that she committed the act after hearing about Joel’s intentions to leave Weatherfield following his own crimes, breaking down as she states her intention to hand herself in to the police.
A stunned and horrified Ed attempts to talk Dee-Dee out of her plan, but will he be able to convince her? And is Dee-Dee truly the killer, or simply under the impression that she is?
Though Dee-Dee will confess to the murder, other characters will still be in the firing line, with Betsy Swain continuing to suspect that her mother, Lisa, could be involved.
With a suspicious bruising pattern and the existence of painkillers dated from the day following Joel’s death, Lisa is questioned by her colleague DC Kit Green, who confirms that her phone has been searched.
After revealing a particularly incriminating message, in which he stated that she wanted Joel dead, Lisa is questioned about her whereabouts on the night of the murder.
