Cassie Plummer will arouse suspicion on Coronation Street as her storyline with Ken Barlow continues.
Cassie began taking care of Ken earlier this year following his fall, with the pair forming a close
friendship. This has been put to the test lately, however, with Ken telling Cassie that he couldn’t afford to
keep her on.
Despite putting on a smiley face, Cassie has taken to poisoning Ken in a bid to have him reliant on her as she bids to keep her job, with scenes over the festive period seeing the pair buy each other some gifts.
Ken is delighted to see that Cassie has bought him an album by his favourite composer, with the veteran returning the favour as he sourced a plush scarf for his carer. Over the course of the following week, Ken sees Cassie stressed as she’s out shopping.
She confides in him that she has racked up a debt by buying presents for her family, leaving her stressed in the process. Later in the week, a downbeat Ken professes his love for the ballet, though apologises to Cassie as he reveals he’s not in the right mood to celebrate Christmas.
Steve and Tracy are later stunned to find Cassie in one of his dressing gowns, with the latter explaining that she opted to stay and look after Ken given that Steve was working a night shift. She twists the knife even further by feigning romantic interest in Ken, which angers Tracy.
Cassie appeals to Ken’s ego by praising his qualities, with the carer remarking that she possesses little of the cultural knowledge that he does. Tracy warns Steve that she is suspicious of Cassie’s intentions, expressing that it would be a bad idea for Steve to move out.
Tracy later confronts Cassie about an advance she received in her wages, before urging Steve and Amy to keep an eye on Cassie whilst she’s on holiday. The pair reluctantly agree, though they think there is no substance to Tracy’s claims. Will Cassie be caught out?
