Carla Connor was dramatically rushed to hospital on Coronation Street after collapsing in her home.
The character had been out for some drinks on New Year’s Eve with partner Lisa Swain, though seemed worse for wear at the beginning of Wednesday’s (January 1) episode as she bemoaned the level of noise in the café.
After Lisa, Betsy and Mason all left, Carla was still perturbed by the noise of a barking dog, but was confused as there seemed to be no trace of the animal. Roy remarked that she didn’t look too well, with her condition worsening as she began having visions.
After returning home, Carla began to hear repeated knocks at her door but broke down as she discovered that nobody was there. Meanwhile, Roy spoke with Tyrone and began to fear for Carla.
He subsequently headed to her place to check in, with the character immediately calling an ambulance as he found her lying motionless by the front door. Upon reaching the hospital, Roy learned that Carla had been exhibiting symptoms of sepsis.
His suspicions were confirmed, with the doctor explaining that the infection had come from a head wound. Carla eventually came around, with Roy sharing that caring for her was what “he did best.”
Roy shared that he failed in contacting Lisa, though Carla was fine for her to remain in the dark in fear that she would leave the relationship. She subsequently expressed doubts regarding their future together, citing Lisa’s avoidance of the topic of love from the previous night.
Lisa brought some flowers back home as she walked into an empty house, with the detective quickly calling Carla. Not wanting to spook her partner, Carla fabricated a story and said she had left the country for a few days. Will her lie be exposed?
