Coronation Street‘s Bethany Platt has been caught out over her cancer lie.

After recently becoming insecure about her appearance, Bethany travelled to Turkey for a liposuction procedure that had serious consequences.

The botched operation led to Bethany contracting sepsis, and she was later told that she will have to live with a permanent stoma.

Earlier this week, Bethany joined a support group to help with her emotions, though she wasn’t very honest about her reasons for being there. The group’s leader Dawn believes that Bethany has a stoma bag because she had cancer.

A confused Debbie Webster overheard Dawn reassuring Bethany that she had made the right decision to join the support group after facing cancer, with Bethany later admitting that Dawn had wrongly assumed her diagnosis.

Tonight’s (December 6) episode saw Debbie showing off her new convertible to Kevin, but her spirits were dampened when a passing Bethany revealed her plans to sue the Turkish clinic after another botched operation.

“A waiver won’t matter if we can prove there’s a pattern of negligence,” said Sarah, before a nervous Debbie invited Bethany to the Chariot Square hotel for a discounted spa treatment.

Adam then called round at Sarah’s to explain that Bethany would need a specialist Turkish lawyer to bring action against the clinic, as well as expert evidence.

“None of which I can afford,” Bethany admitted.

With legal action out of the question, Adam explained that they could demand compensation from a director or shareholder of the clinic who also lives in the UK.

Later, Sarah confronted Debbie at the hotel, after learning that she was, in fact, the British shareholder.

“All this time you knew you had shares, watching Bethany go through this and you said nothing,” Sarah shouted.

“I’ve said I’m sorry over and over, and offered to help in any way I can,” Debbie replied, with Sarah quickly demanding that she pay them back, but Debbie refused.

“Name the time and the place, and I’ll show you exactly what happens when you mess with my daughter,” Sarah warned.

After leaving the hotel, Sarah keyed Debbie’s car in front of a shocked Kevin, and revealed that she was “delivering karma”.

Debbie later confronted Kit about Sarah vandalising her car, demanding that he arrest her.

Sarah explained to Kit that Debbie was profiting off the company that “nearly killed” her daughter, and was therefore let off.

At the Rovers, Debbie ran into Sarah and Bethany, which led to another heated confrontation. Debbie then exposed Bethany for lying about having cancer at the support group.

“Do you want to know the difference between you and your stoma support group?” said an angry Daniel, who tragically lost his wife Sinead to cervical cancer in 2019.

“They didn’t volunteer what happened to them, it wasn’t their fault. Some of them actually had cancer, just like Sinead, and you have made a mockery of every single one of them.”
