Abi Webster comes to blows with Toyah Habeeb in an emotional new Coronation Street storyline.
The cobbles were rocked after Mason Radcliffe was stabbed to death during an altercation with his brothers Logan and Matty.
For Abi, it has brought back memories of her late son Seb Franklin, who was beaten to death in an attack led by Corey Brent and his gang.
In upcoming scenes, Toyah becomes concerned over Abi’s well-being when she overhears Roy Cropper discussing Abi’s recent hallucinations with her husband Kevin.
Abi insists to Kevin that Roy’s concerns are unfounded and he has got the wrong end of the stick.
She is further irritated when Toyah suggests Abi sees a grief counsellor, accusing Toyah of trying to steal Alfie, who Toyah was previously involved in a custody battle over.
The whole event is witnessed by Leanne Battersby and Tracy McDonald, who are sitting in the Bistro watching Toyah getting grief from Abi.
Explaining the tragic storyline, producer Kate Brooks told Digital Spy and other press: “We start the year with a big knife crime story. It’s a really important story to tackle, because the statistics are so alarming.
“We’ve worked really closely with the Ben Kinsella Foundation to make sure we’re telling the story right and that the message is to not carry a knife out of fear, because that escalates everything.
“We know we’re tackling a sensitive storyline and it’s going to be very hard-hitting. We have Mason at the centre of it and Dylan and Betsy are involved. It has massive ramifications for Abi – and for Tim and Sally going forward.”
