Coronation Street is set to revisit Leanne Battersby’s cult storyline in upcoming scenes.
Last year, Leanne was drawn into the sinister cult The Institute and its leader Rowan Cunliffe, who was found guilty in scenes that aired last month.
The storyline also saw Leanne help to con Amy Barlow out her savings, and her guilt over the incident will come to the surface in scenes airing on Monday (January 20).
Leanne decides to unexpectedly give Amy a £12,000 cheque, telling her it’s from Les’s compo money, and that she wants her to take it as partial payment for the stolen Institute money.
She feels bad for helping to con Amy out of her money, even while being unaware of the cult’s deception when it happened.
Will Amy be able to forgive Leanne?
Scenes next week will also see Leanne facing court after trying to frame Toyah for fraud, notably after learning her sister is still in a secret relationship with Nick Tilsley, and is handed a community order.
Leanne faces further embarrassment at the Bistro as tries to flirt with Ronnie Bailey amid her isolation, drinking heavily much to Toyah’s disapproval, and is left in an awkward spot when Nick’s son Sam witnesses her behaviour.
Meanwhile, Amy’s storyline will see the return of Eric Sandford, the father of her rapist Aaron, in upcoming scenes. Amy is left reeling by his appearance in town, and Eric’s return will have huge ramifications going forward.
However, actor Craig Cheetham will reportedly only be appearing in one episode.
