Coronation Street star Vicky Myers has shared her disappointment that a scene between Lisa Swain and Roy Cropper never materialised.
Myers has played DS Swain on the ITV soap since 2021, with recent developments seeing her character become romantically involved with Carla Connor despite her trepidation at finding a new partner.
The relationship, which has been dubbed ‘Swarla’ by fans, was given the seal of approval by Roy, though this wasn’t guaranteed after Lisa had wrongfully arrested him earlier in the year during the investigation of Lauren Bolton’s disappearance and supposed murder.
In an interview with Inside Soap, Myers shared that she wasn’t surprised by Roy’s act of forgiveness, though expressed disappointment that the reconciliation between her character and the café owner was never shown on screen.
“[His blessing] was a big turning point for them [Lisa and Carla]” said Myers. “Roy doesn’t hold grudges. I wish we’d had a scene where there was a conversation about Lisa being sorry for getting Roy locked up.
“But he’s back living his life. Roy is like a father figure to Carla – he can see she’s happy and knows himself [that] love comes from the unlikeliest of places,” added the actor, who continued by teasing what the future could hold for Lisa and Carla.
“They’re both feisty, stubborn and independent professional women who live in survival mode. It won’t be plain sailing. Lisa doesn’t know what to do with [daughter] Betsy or her own grief over Becky, so she puts her walls up and she’s comfortable there.
“But Carla’s made her guard drop and the walls break down. There will be a lot of barriers and challenges next year… They’re soulmates. And it’s taken Lisa by surprise. She didn’t want to trust her feelings, but there’s definitely longevity there.”
