Coronation Street starVicky Entwistle has issued a plea for a British teenager went missing after
travelling to Tenerife for a music festival.
Jay Slater, 19, disappeared after going to stay with people he just met on the holiday following a night
out, a pal said.
In a video uploaded to Snapchat, Jay is seen in the outfit he was last known to be wearing, which is a light grey t-shirt with green shoulders and a black bag.
His phone location showed he was in a mountainous area of a national park, 10 hours away from his accommodation.
Vicky, who is best known for her role as Janice Battersby in the ITV soap, shared Jay’s photo on X and asked her followers to pray for his family.
‘My God Mother’s Grandson has gone missing,’ she wrote.
‘His Mother has flown out 7pm. To join the police search. Hope to God they find him. Please pray for him.’ [sic].
Jay’s mum Debbie said today she was ‘beside herself with worry’ in her first comments since arriving in the Canary Islands.
Her partner, Andy Watson, said police had urged the family to come to the island as soon as possible.
He told Lancashire Live: ’It was about 2.30am and the police said “the best thing you can do is get youself out there”, we knew it was bad.
‘This was his first holiday on his own. I’m just hoping he’s gone to another party.’
She added: ‘He’d been at a three-day festival so he would have consumed a fair bit of alcohol but Jay was snapchatting with friends before he went missing and seemed very compos mentis.
‘I just think it was a question of him not knowing the island well enough because it was his first time here and being a bit disorientated when it came to distances and not realising it was a 10-hour walk from where he went missing to his holiday accommodation.’
