Coronation Street star Jacob Roberts has admitted that he was nervous about going head-to-head with
David Platt in his latest storyline.
The actor’s character Kit Green took centre stage in a big twist this week, as viewers discovered his one-
night stand with David’s wife Shona.
Shona secretly turned to Kit after uncovering David’s shameless attempts to deceive her over her jailed son Clayton Hibbs.
As Shona now wants to work on getting her marriage back on track, she hopes that Kit will keep quiet about what happened between them.
Of course, this is Soapland and there’s a dramatic Christmas ahead for the Platts, so it seems like only a matter of time before the truth will come out.
Discussing David’s reputation for seeing off his enemies, Jacob told and other press: “I thought this fling might have gotten me killed off! If David’s coming after me, he’s coming after me!
“But it’s been good, because I didn’t realise when it would come out, or if it would just be kept secret.
“Kit thinks he can get away with it. He knows that Shona won’t tell David, so if she doesn’t, he’s in the clear. Although, when they meet up for a second time, that’s when it gets interesting.”
He continued: “The story came out the blue. Kit and Shona had the police interview scenes after she’d pushed the prison governor. He felt sorry for Shona, because of how she explained the story about David.
“But you didn’t see any flirting in the scenes beforehand, so it came out of nowhere. I think something happened with Kit and Daisy at the time and he thought: ‘Do you know what? I’m not having that’. So he’s just done his own thing and he thought he could get away with it.”
In upcoming scenes, Kit will turn his attentions back to Daisy as he hopes to work things out between them.
Asked whether Kit is a player, Jacob replied: “Yeah, I think so. I think he’s scared of opening himself up. He’s still flirting with Daisy and he has opened himself up in different ways, but he’s blaming things on Paul if he does get emotional or he does something wrong. So he starts to go down that route.
“I like playing Kit this way, but I’ve already decided where he could potentially change. But I don’t think you could change a character too much until we address the unresolved issues with Bernie as well.”
