Coronation Street star Jacob Roberts has explained why his character Kit Green blackmails Beth Tinker
in upcoming scenes.
In scenes airing on the BBC soap next week, the corrupt police detective turns ruthless after Beth catches
him working with her former partner-in-crime Sid to sell dodgy T-shirts.
When Kit discovers that Beth knows he’s involved in the illegal operation, he gives her an ultimatum: get out of town by the end of the week or he’ll ruin her son Craig’s career in the police force.

Discussing the storyline during a new interview with Inside Soap, Roberts explained: “Once she finds out that he’s gone behind her back to earn a few quid out of the dodgy T-shirts, she thinks she has the power, so he has to work his magic and figure out how to get one up on her.
“Kit has a massive ego, and he doesn’t like being told what to do, so he wants to get his own back on Beth and then see who’s laughing!”
Kit has been manipulating Craig at work, leading Craig to open up about his history of corrupt behaviour, such as the time he kept his girlfriend Faye Windass out of trouble over her involvement in a hit-and-run.

When asked if Kit has any remorse for manipulating Craig, Roberts said: “Kit’s just out for himself. He shows no remorse towards Craig because he tried to get dirt on Kit just after his mum died, so Kit thinks Craig behaved badly towards him.
“He has to see him and deal with him every day, so he does like him to some degree. But he can also pull out the blade whenever he wants!”
