SHOCKING NEWS!!! Coronation Street star explains returning character’s “wicked and cruel” plan

Coronation Street star Amy Robbins has teased details of Christina Boyd and Daisy Midgeley’s upcoming plot against Jenny Connor, describing it as “wicked and cruel”.

Robbins will reprise her role on the ITV soap as part of Daisy’s exit storyline, with the mother and daughter teaming up to make Jenny’s life a misery due to each holding a grudge against her.

Robbins, who first played Christina in 2023, spoke with Digital Spy and other press ahead of her upcoming scenes, explaining that the mother-and-daughter duo are bound by their eagerness to get one over on Jenny.

“It’s brilliant. For the first time you see Daisy, when push comes to shove, relying on her flesh and blood to help her out a bit,” explained Robbins. “Christina runs to her rescue to finally get revenge on Jenny, which she’s always wanted to do.

“They’re finally working together to undo Jenny and that suits Christina down to the ground, that is right up her street.”

She added that Christina has feelings of “pure jealousy” toward Jenny, explaining: “Jenny probably has all the characteristics that she [Christina] would like to have.

“She would love to have that bond with her daughter but that’s the price she paid [when] she left her. [Jenny also] took her husband! I don’t think Christina’s ever got over that. That’s what this whole thing comes down to.”

Whilst Christina’s motivations are clear, Daisy’s own gripe revolves around Jenny’s more recent actions regarding a small fortune of £60k, which the bartender came into thanks to her ex-husband – Daisy’s father – having invested some shares in her name when they were married.

“Jenny doesn’t tell her [Daisy] about this,” Robbins said. “So it comes to fruition she’s got this little nest egg from the ex-husband, and Daisy thinks: ‘Well that should be mine, I’m his daughter.’ They’ve fallen out about a number of things. It’s all been going horribly wrong.

“(Daisy phones Christina) and says: ‘Mum, can you come and help me get this money, what’s rightly mine?’ (Christina says): ‘That should be yours, it should be mine too … let’s get this money back off her.’ So they go to town to try to get this £60k off her.”

With the motives for each party well established, Christina and Daisy concoct a plan to break Jenny’s heart, with the pair setting up a fake dating profile for a man called Dom to play with Jenny’s emotions.

“It’s elaborate,” said Robbins. “We’re aware that Jenny’s in need of a boyfriend or some male attention so they create this character called Dom… She falls madly in love with Dom, who’s attentive and lovely and, in our imagination, terribly handsome.

“She tells them she’s found this lovely fella online … and we try to help her … But we’re just wrapping her round our little finger by making her fall in love with this man and Christina is sending the messages to her from him. “It’s wicked and cruel.”

The actor added that Christina is “absolutely” seeking her revenge on Jenny, saying: “In some weird way I am protecting my daughter… I think I am putting my love for my daughter, deep down, first. And I’m just trying to push this woman out who, in my mind, has kept me from my daughter for all these years.

“Daisy is so angry with (Jenny). Jenny has said some awful things to her, they’ve really fallen out about a number of things. I think (Christina and Daisy) are feeling vengeful. We’re happy to see her lose the pub. We’re happy to see her lose everything in that moment, it’s pretty horrid.”

With Daisy due to leave Weatherfield soon, this plot could also prove to be the last time we see Christina on the cobbled streets for some time, with Robbins sharing that it’s been a “great” and “fun” story due to its timeliness.

“I’m trying to have so much fun with her in the pub that they can’t get rid of her,” quipped the actor. “It’s been lovely because it’s a great story. I watched a documentary [about catfishing] the other night… It’s something that people find interesting and can relate to with online dating.”
