Actress Sair Khan who portrays Alya Nazir on Coronation Street went on maternity leave earlier this year after her baby’s birth. The star announced her and partner Nathan Chilton’s

pregnancy earlier in December. The couple then welcomed their first child in April 2024. “He’s here,” the actress had announced the birth of her son through an Instagram post.

Due to her maternity leave, Sair Khan’s character Alya Nazir was pulled off the screen temporarily. The exit was aired about a month after her maternity leave started. But it seems that Sair

is now ready to return to Coronation Street. The phenomenal performer has confirmed that she is returning to the soap as Alya, and has even resumed filming for the same.

Sair’s exit arc saw Alya jetting off to Dublin to take on a new job after she decided to drop the chance of having a romantic relationship with her boss Adam Barlow. The sparks between the two characters were unmissable, but Alya decided not to pursue it. But now that Saira is back on the soap, we wonder if Alya’s stance towards Adam would change.

“I’m Backstreet,” The actress had announced through her Instagram stories, alongside a picture of her script for the soap. So fans can brace up to see her back on the soap in about six weeks! Sair has also taken new in-character solo photos for the soap, as is tradition. Actress Channique Sterling Brown posted a picture of herself with Sair on Instagram.

“Bailey and Nazir reunited for @coronationstreet picture day,” Channique wrote.
