Coronation Street actor Jacob Roberts has spoken about his character Kit Green’s new romance with Sarah Platt.
Kit is now seeing Sarah after his relationship with Daisy Midgeley fizzled out, and Sarah’s marriage to Adam Barlow ended due to her affair with Damon Hay, which ended when he was sent to prison.
David Platt hasn’t been happy about his sister seeing Kit – especially due to the detective’s one-night stand with his wife Shona – but it looks like he might have to get used to it.
Roberts explained that Kit and Sarah could have some legs as a pairing, but stated that it may be a more casual fling based on physical attraction rather than emotional involvement.
“I think Kit gets a bit of stick for [being a player] because he went in with Daisy, and Daisy had had a thing with Daniel before,” he said. “He went with Shona, who’s married to David.

“I think Sarah and Kit have just met each other — it could be a perfect time, it could be a bad time — but they’ve met each other at a time where they’re both single and they’re both looking for maybe a partner or maybe something fun so we’re going to see how that develops.
“But he’s done well, he’s not been short of female attention, he’s happy enough with that, I suppose.”

The actor added that he still thinks Kit is a “lone wolf” who struggles to open up and make friends, and that “people are wary of him, he’s not the nicest person to meet straight away, it probably takes a lot of getting to know him, which people aren’t willing to do.
“He’s a bit of a snake, he’s sly, out for himself, so I think people find him hard to trust and he finds other people hard to trust.”

However, Roberts said that even though Kit is someone who “always [has] a bit of an agenda”, he does think he has a strong sibling-style relationship with fellow detective Lisa Swain.
“Me and Vicky [Myers] have been saying it’s like brother and sister,” he said. “We just had a scene this morning where we sounded like kids towards each other.
“It’s been a good relationship because they both have soft sides to each other, but there also is that rivalry.
“He does want to be top dog, and she knows that, and she wants to put him in his place. He thinks he’s better than her, she thinks she’s better than him, so it’s all that to play off.”
