Many Coronation Street fans would remember actress Shobna Gulati. The stunning star was popular for essaying the role of Sunita on the ITV drama. However, it has been a while since we saw her last on the soap.

Now, the latest news reports state that the Corrie alum has bagged a meaty part in the series Vera, which is gearing up for its final offering.

The fourteenth and last series featuring the final farewell will consist of two feature-length specials with a whole host of famous faces signed up to co-star in the programmes with Brenda Blethyn. Former Corrie

star Shobna Gulati will be one of those familiar faces joining the star of Vera.

Currently, there isn’t much information about the character that Shobna Gulati will be portraying. However, we do know that the two specials will roll out around Christmas, so we will only have to wait a few short weeks to get more information about what the ex-Corrie star is doing in the series.

As for her Coronation Street stint, it lasted from 2001 to 2006, and Shobna had become quite popular with the fanbase during that time. Her screen presence and believable portrayal of Sunita were commendable. After exiting the soap for the first time in 2006, she returned again in 2009. However, her character was permanently killed off in 2013 in a horrifying Rovers Return fire.

Shortly before dying, she had an affair with Karl Munro. In fact, Karl pulled out Sunita’s breathing apparatus in the hospital causing her to go into a cardiac arrest and die. He was later arrested for causing the fire, as well as, taking Sunita’s life. The character’s storyline was never revisited again after that.
