Coronation Street has confirmed Gail Platt won’t receive a tragic send off when she bows out the soap.
Fans can breathe a sigh of relief as, according to Daily Star‘s Hot TV column, Gail won’t be killed off
when she exits the cobbles later this year.
It was announced in June that Helen Worth would be leaving her iconic role as the Platt family matriarch, after 50 years on the Street.
Speaking about the upcoming exit, Corrie‘s executive producer Iain MacLeod said: “Gail won’t die. It didn’t feel like killing her off would be right. Gail’s exit is a brilliant story. I thought, ‘What do the viewers want to see?’
“Gail has had a hard life. She had a difficult childhood and she disastrous marriages. So, we though what viewers really want is a happy ending for her, so that what we’re doing.”
Fans can rest assured that Gail’s final scenes will do her justice, as Worth has given them her seal of approval.
