Coronation Street will welcome a familiar face for soap fans as ex-Hollyoaks star Jessica Ellis will be joining the Channel 4 series.
Ellis is best known for the role of Tegan Lomax on Hollyoaks, but her character was tragically killed off when she was crushed by a falling tree during a storm in 2018.
Now, Ellis will appear in Corrie in a guest role. She’ll be portraying newcomer Brie, Lauren Bolton’s fellow prison inmate.
Speaking with Digital Spy about leaving Hollyoaks at the time, Ellis said she was “excited” her character had been killed off in a big stunt storyline.
“Obviously I was sad. It’s the end of an era and I loved working there, but I was excited to be part of the stunt and I thought it was a really exciting death,” she said.
The actor also said she preferred to end her time on Hollyoaks with a definitive exit.
“No, I actually prefer the door not to be left open,” she shared. “I think if you’re going to go, then it’s final and it’s a final decision. There’s no going back, there’s only going forwards.”
The details of Ellis’ stint on the cobbles are being kept under wraps, but we know her character Brie won’t go easy on Lauren Bolton.
Lauren is in prison for the murder of her abusive solicitor Joel Deering. In earlier scenes, it was revealed that Lauren hit Joel with a rock when he was trying to strangle her boyfriend Max Turner.
Max initially took the blame for the murder, but Lauren later came clean and confessed she’d delivered the fatal blow to Joel.
As Lauren’s trial begins, Brie tells her that her baby son Frankie would be better off without her.
