Coronation Street has revealed a first look at Kevin Webster’s big storyline along with some new details.
The soap recently announced an upcoming issue-based storyline for the Webster family, confirming that Kevin will be diagnosed with testicular cancer.
Alongside Kevin’s cancer diagnosis, the Websters will meet a new member of the family as Kevin and Debbie’s younger half-sibling Carl Webster is set to enter the soap.
In scenes which are set to air in the week commencing Monday, January 13, Abi continues to dwell on the death of Mason.
When Debbie calls in at No.13, she finds Kevin visibly stressed and Kevin explains that he’s found a lump.
A shocked Debbie urges Kevin to share his worries about his lump with Abi and when Kevin finds a tearful Abi in the memorial garden for her late son Seb, he realises that now is not the time to tell her his worrying news.
Unaware of what Kevin’s going through, Abi tells Kevin that Alfie has a cold so she is going to spend the day at home with him.
Meanwhile, Kevin visits Dr Gaddas who sends him for further tests. Kevin opens up to Tim about his cancer worries before he returns home to find Abi asleep on the sofa with Alfie.
After taking Alfie upstairs, Debbie lets herself in and Abi wakes up to find Alfie gone. Abbie accuses Debbie of taking Alfie and when Debbie tries to leave, Abi defends her overreaction.
In the commotion, Kevin tells Abi that he has found a lump and may have testicular cancer, leaving Abi in a state of shock.
Recently speaking about the new storyline, producer Kate Brooks said: “As we go into the New Year, Kevin will discover that he’s got testicular cancer, which causes a massive strain on his relationship. Abi is a really strong character, but she’s going through her own turmoil at the same time.”
