Coronation Street‘s Ken Barlow puts himself in danger next week as he refuses to believe the worst of Cassie Plummer.
Ken throws caution to the wind as he chooses to ignore repeated warnings that Cassie isn’t to be trusted.
This week’s episodes see Ken’s son Daniel Osbourne tip him off over how Cassie was spotted slipping something into his tea earlier this month.
Ken confronts Cassie, but she manages to play down any suspicions and ultimately keeps her job as his unofficial carer.
In follow-on scenes next week, Cassie shamelessly continues her evil plan by slipping more antihistamines into Ken’s teacup.
When Adam Barlow and Alya Nazir visit the house, they’re concerned to see Ken appearing unwell.
Ken then checks his bank account and is baffled to find a list of strange transactions for purchases that he hasn’t made.
Ken’s daughter Tracy checks the list and immediately accuses Cassie of stealing his credit card, claiming that the transaction for hair products must have come from her.
Gullible Ken remains convicted that Cassie is innocent, so he asks her if she’d like to move into No.1 permanently.
Cassie agrees, leaving Amy Barlow and Steve McDonald both shocked and disapproving over how she’s worming her way in so successfully.
Later, Cassie also confides in her mum Evelyn, who’s back from university for a visit.
Cassie confirms that she’s moving in with Ken because he needs round-the-clock care, but Evelyn is suspicious and questions her daughter’s motivations. Could Evelyn play a role in exposing Cassie’s true colours?
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, January 27 and Wednesday, January 29 on ITV1 and ITVX.
